Winter Learning Journey

For the next winter learning journey activity I had to pick one of the 76 New Zealand people going to the Rio De Janerio Olympic games.

Sport: Shot Put

Interesting Fact 1: She was born in Rotorua

Interesting Fact 2: She is a four-time World champion

Interesting Fact 3: She has won world titles titles at the youth - Junior & Senior

    Hi Mya,

    I completely agree with Mia and Cecillia. You have chosen a fabulous athlete to profile. Valerie Adams is a very talented shot putter. In fact, she has won gold medals at the last two Olympic games. Interestingly, she was only awarded a gold medal for the 2012 Olympics in London after the woman who originally placed first was stripped of her medal when they found that she had been taking performance enhancing drugs. Hopefully the same thing won't happen this year and Valerie can win a gold medal in Rio fair and square (the first time)!

    Thanks for including a picture with your post, as well. It really adds to your blog!
